Weekly Shounen Sunday #26 (Preview)

It's been a bit since I've done a preview, but to defend myself there really hasn't been much pre-issue news to speak of in the last few weeks....but that ends today! I have stuff to talk about and a few sneak peeks of the 26th issue of WSS, so let's get cracking!

On the cover are three beauties from Nogizaka 46--- Mizuki Yamashita, Riria Itou, and Momoko Ozono. It says they're the "top" but I'm not sure what that means in this instance. I really should brush up on my idolese --after I get better with my Japanese.

Not in this issue are the following

Aozakura Bouei Daigakkou Monogatari
RYOKO
Detective Conan
Zettai Karen Children

There's bit of a shift here with Dagashikashi being kinda low, Mushibugyo rising slightly, Saike dropping slightly and Souboutei climbing to the top. It seems to me this is more a bip than anything significant but who knows....In any case, there is a little bit of a shakeup with Saike ending this issue for a bit of time off, but our time reversing hero will be back in July for more. Though he's not the only one leaving...

Next issue's preview shows that Conan will be back to reclaim his throne as Mr. Shounen Sunday after having nearly a month--or well, exactly a month off. Meteor Girl appears to be the only series getting a color page, and ending it's run in the next issues is DameTerasu-sama. I can't say I'm too surprised considering that it's been lingering at the bottom of the TOC for some time now, but it's still sad nonetheless...since it and RYOKO started serialization together....it's ending and RYOKO is on hiatus so it seems that serialization round ended in failure. I do hope that this round fares a little better, and at the very least it looks like the editorial department is really taking a shine to Evans as they're advertising it here.

A bit of an extra, but remember how Tenshi & Akuto was meant to have a voiced version of the manga? Turns out it's up online now! --Well, the first part anyway. Check it out! It'd be fun if this got a proper anime soon (and it has the length to sustain a two cour one at least) but Sunday is always weird about giving things adaptions. Welp, that's it for the preview, the full issue writeup will be out this Wednesday, so be sure to come on back. See you then!

Comments

  1. The Tenshi to Akuto vomic is pretty nice! I imagined Akuto having a softer, more feminine voice, but it seems fitting nonetheless. Hope it gets a proper anime at some point, but these aren't a bad substitute in the meantime (though it'd be better if I knew japanese so I could understand what they're saying) ^^,
